English abstract:
In the present study the efficiency of tuned liquid column dampers (TLCDs) for the control of wind-induced vibrations of cable-stayed bridges under construction is investigated experimentally. A small-scale experimental setup of a cable-stayed bridge under construction equipped with a TLCD is tested. The effectiveness of TLCDs in the reduction of wind-induced vibrations is demonstrated by means of a series free and time-harmonic forced vibration tests. The optimal tuning ratio between the natural frequency of the bridge structure and the TLCD is determined. For comparative numerical studies the bridge is modeled as single-degree-of-freedom system. The experimental results are in good agreement with numerical predictions and indicate that TLCDs are effective damping devices for the undesired wind-induced vibrations of cable-stayed bridges under construction.
