English abstract:
The present paper describes the expansion of a feature-based expert system enabling automated tool selection for machining. In addition to identifying suitable tools for the manufacturing features specified by the CAD system, the new expert system modifies the predefined features and, where appropriate, replaces them with new ones in order to minimize the number of tools required per workpiece.
