For the cyclic fatigue design check the respective codes and standards working groups in ASME and CEN have developed new concepts, laid down in diverse ASME Section VIII Division 2 Rewrite Drafts and in EN 13445-3 Clause 17 and 18, published May 2002. This paper discusses the (many) common elements, the deviations, and proposes ideas for convergence of the approaches by joining the more promising ideas in both.

Arbeitsgruppen in ASME und CEN haben für den (zyklischen) Ermüdungsnachweis in verschiedenen Richtlinien und Normen neue Konzepte entwickelt, welche in verschiedenen Entwürfen von ASME VIII/2 Rewrite und in EN 13445-3 Abschnitte 17 und 18 festgehalten sind. In dieser Arbeit werden die (zahlreichen) gemeinsamen Elemente, die Unterschiede und Vorschläge zur Vereinheitlichung der Konzepte vorgestellt.
