English abstract:
Biogenous fuels like ethanol are an appropriate alternative in order to lower greenhouse gas emissions and to reach a greater independence of fossil energy carriers. In addition, the special fuel properties in combination with an innovative combustion process enable improvements of efficiency and power as weIl as a reduction of emissions.
In the course of research work at the University of Technology Vienna pure ethanol as weIl as ethanol gasoline blends were investigated in engine operation. The investigations showed an increase of the maximum torque and power up to 6%. Reductions in the exhaust emissions of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides could be determined considerably.
