Kurzfassung englisch:
Results from laboratory investigation of AC influence on steel in soil indicate strong surface alkalization as the possible cause for corrosion. Side effects such as gas formation and temperature increase were also identified. Subsequent findings from a failure analysis support the practical relevance of the proposed mechanism.
