Kurzfassung englisch:
The effects of temperature increase brought about by an ultrasonic standing wave on the infrared spectrum of water samples were investigated. Absorbance spectra were recorded under the presence of an ultrasonic standing wave as well as with temperate water in the range between 23°C and 45°C. Variations in the infrared absorbance when applying an ultrasonic standing wave could be observed and were linked to the spectral variations caused by changes in the water temperature. By comparison to conventional heated samples it was concluded that the observed variations in the spectral absorbance of water were most likely induced by local temperature changes in the proximity of the ATR probe due to the energy dissipation in the ultrasonic standing wave.
