English abstract:
The goal of our work is to synthesize molecular CdS clusters with polymerizable ligands ("functional" clusters) in order to use them as comonomers in polymerization reactions. In this way, cluster-crosslinked polymers might be formed which possess special physical, e.g. optoelectronic, properties.
In this contribution, we present our results on the investigation of "[Cd10S4(SPh)12]" (1) which is formed by thermal treatment of the precursor (Me4N)4[Cd10S4(SPh)16] cluster. According to previous literature studies, it should have four free Cd coordination sites available for further functionalization. However, we proved now that the core structure of the cluster is not maintained during the pyrolysis reaction and that it grows unspecifically. Thus, it is not suitable for further functionalization.
