Kurzfassung englisch:
Active magnetic bearings (AMB) offer contact-free suspension without wear and the variation of suspension parameters such as stiffness and damping during operation. A lower reliability compared with conventional bearings, however is one major reason why AMB-technology is not sufficiently accepted so far in many practical industrial applications. Within the scope of a nationally supported research project a comprehensive concept for AMBs´ reliability has been developed, which offers not only an improvement within single areas, but supreme reliability of the whole AMB-system. One major part of this concept are special hot-swap controller amplifier modules (HCA). Each HCA consists of a digital controller, a digitally driven switching power amplifier, a noise-shaper and local power supplies. The necessary communication with a remote unit is reduced to a minimum. In this paper a MATLAB Simulink model of an HCA as well as simulation results are presented. Simulation results cover softstart, worst case operating condition and gain in signal quality, using a noise shaper in conjunction with a special pulsewidth- modulation scheme.
