This paper shall serve to give an overview about restitution laws adopted in countries in transition. However, this research does not intend to provide a comprehensive analysis of the restitution legislation, thus, the following shall give merely an outline of restitution laws of countries with a comparable legal history as that of the Republic of Serbia, for providing a comparison of principles of restitution. The focus of the evaluation remains with other ex-Yugoslav Republics, the pattern followed throughout this paper provides introductions of the main principles, legal problems, financial aspects and further remarks
