English abstract:
This article explains what is considered as rural tourism. Austria is a special place for successful rural tourism is essential for the national income. In Japan rural tourism does not play this important role yet. The article is divided into two parts: (1) analyzing the situation in Austria with an outlook for future development and (2) a comparative assessment of rural tourism in Austria and Japan.
