"Climate change"recently has become one of the most frequently mentioned dangers for Nature and Mankind. Due to this phenomenon our continuous research project concerning
"Disaster Mitigation and Security in Buildings" has obtained more significance then ever.
In Europe this year devastating heavy rain falls and hurricanes occurred more frequently than in the last years. Hazard of flood is rising as well.
In the Niigata Prefecture earthquakes occur surprisingly often, which cannot be ignored and which forces us engineers to make necessary preparations, before a larger catastrophe occurs.
Therefore, based on our research activities since the Chûetsu Earthquake (2004) in cooperation with the University of Niigata, Nagaoka became once more one of our focuses of our investigations.
