"Production of a microbeam of slow highly charged ions with a single microscopic glass capillary";
Nuclear Instruments & Methods in Physics Research Section B, 267 (2009), S. 2277 - 2279.

Kurzfassung englisch:
We present an alternative way to produce a microbeam of slow highly charged ions by using a glass capillary. We show, that after a charge-up phase, in which a self-organized process leads to the formation of
a guiding electric field, stable transmission of a micrometer-scale beam with considerable intensity is
observed. This guiding field allows to adjust the direction of the beam mechanically. We present clear
evidence, that the charge-state of the incident projectile is kept during the guided transmission, and
the angular distribution of the transmitted ions is narrow.
