A. Rebhan:
"Anomalies in holographic QCD and the chiral magnetic effect";
Talk: CERN, Theory Division, Genf, Schweiz (invited); 2009-09-14.

English abstract:
The Sakai-Sugimoto model provides a string theory dual to nonsupersymmetric large-N QCD,
with chiral fundamental quarks introduced through probe D8 branes. I discuss how the chiral anomaly
is represented in this setting, with particular attention paid to the difference between consistent and
covariant anomalies. I then describe implications for the chiral magnetic effect, i.e. the generation of
electromagnetic currents from nonzero chiral densities in strong external magnetic fields, which may
be studied in event-by-event fluctuations in heavy-ion collision experiments.
