Kurzfassung englisch:
The metabolism of different biological molecules in yeast cells can give insights into their physiological state. For example, under nutrient limited or starvation conditions yeast will exhibit a physiological response: External carbohydrates can be catabolised in the glycolysis to gain energy, but can also be converted to storage carbohydrates, such as glycogen or trehalose, or contribute to lipid production. In turn, those components can also be reassimilated by the cell, when a different physiological state is achieved. Therefore, the amount of carbohydrates or lipids in the cell can be an important indicator of the physiological status of a cell.
