English abstract:
The aim of this article is to explore the free fall behaviour of a chisel within a casing under water conditions during the pile installation with the hammer grab method.
In case of largely varying soil conditions, the installation of piles, with a hammer grab and a chisel, provides very efficient results. The possibility of changing these tools during the working process makes this method quite powerful because it can be adapted to specific soil characteristics.
Occasionally, special cases entail installation of piles with a chisel under water conditions. The free fall of the chisel within the casing induces flow behaviour which is calculated in numerical flow models. The flow study describes and analyses flow resistance forces acting on the chisel body and also the study interprets the results. Finally, the ultimate state of the free fall behaviour of a chisel was investigated and compared to the ideal free fall.
