Kurzfassung englisch:
The fast development of today´s technology is strongly supported by the availability of new materials with designable physical properties. Relatively little is known about cluster reinforced polymers, although they open a new horizon in the preparation of inorganicorganic hybrid materials designed on a molecular scale. The used organic monomer provides control over the general characteristics of the material, while the inorganic cluster is responsible for the geometry, the improved stability as well as mechanical properties. In contrast to commonly used silica, titania and zirconia clusters, latest developments focus on late transition metal clusters, due to their interesting physical properties. However little is known about the behavior of such compounds in polymerization reactions and the effects they have on the final hybrid material.
