Kurzfassung englisch:
This talk is intended to give an overview of recent progress in
the theory of nonlinear diffusive partial differential equations
arising in fluid mechanics and quantum physics. We focus on
so-called entropy dissipation methods, which yield a priori
information on the solutions to the evolutionary equations.
In particular, a method based on systematic integrations by parts
is presented. The main idea is to identify the integrations by
parts with manipulations of polynomials. In this way, we reveal
relations to polynomial decision problems known in real algebraic
geometry.
