Kurzfassung englisch:
An Ultra-Wideband (UWB) antenna array is designed to satisfy given constraints in a (large) contiguous frequency range. The space limitations are severe in many practical applications and it is often infeasible for the antenna array to be designed with prefered element spacings of λ/2. In this contribution, we compare linear and a reduced-aperture UWB antenna arrays with elements arranged according to a geometric progression. We analyze and discuss performance degradations with respect to irregularly spaced monopoles. The performance of a manufactured irregular UWB antenna array is characterized by measurements in an anechoic chamber. The measured data are correlated with the arrayfactor and measured for linear spaced monopoles.
