Kurzfassung englisch:
Thin layer activation (TLA) is a well established technique based on radioactive doping of materials for wear and/or corrosion measurements.[1]. In the last decades TLA has been applied to several
engineering cases; the majority of those application is related to car engines to measure wear of the couple piston-ring cylinder-liner.[2]. In this work TLA is applied to a ball on disc experiment, allowing a correct, precise and on-line wear volume measurement. Literature does not report any case of TLA applied to this specific setup.
