Kurzfassung englisch:
Investigating and minimising the wear of combustion engines is a very important task these days. In terms of saving costs and time, the engine components have to be investigated in model tests. These experiments have to simulate realistic conditions. With respect to real combustion engines a lubricant circuit and the impact of a filter have to be considered in model tests as well. Since piston rings show typical wear rates in the range of nanometres per hour, radioactive isotopes are the measurement method of choice.
In this work the influence of the oil filter on the continuous wear particle measurement using radioactive isotopes was investigated. The goal was to determine the effect of the presence of an oil filter in the oil circuit and its impact on the wear measurement. This gives information about the presence, transport and size of the particles in the lubricant flow.
