English abstract:
The present paper focuses on the prediction of the resultant deployment level of manually operated
window shades in office buildings. Thereby, long-term empirical observations of the shade deployment
levels for a number of office buildings in Austria provided the underlying empirical basis for the model development.
The resulting model predicts thus the mean shades deployment level (in percent) as a function of
facade orientation and the incident global (vertical) irradiance on the facade. A mathematical formulation of
this dependency model was derived. The predictions based on this model were shown to compare well with
the empirical findings.
