English abstract:
Some realizations of the defect correction principle are discussed, with the aim of computing an efficient and reliable estimate for the error of a given discrete approximation. We explain the underlying ideas in a general framework, sketch the error analysis, and give numerical examples. Applications include first and second order ODE systems, in particular collocation approximations, with a close interrelation to spectral deferred correction schemes. Furthermore, index-1 DAEs and splitting schemes for evolution equations are considered.
