The thesis reports about detailed investigations on the chemical reactivity and synthetic potentiality of 2-thiooxopyridine and bis-2-thiooxopyridine derivatives especially concerning reaction with active halogenated compounds in view of the 2-S-alkyl pyridine derivatives and thieno[2,3-b]pyridine derivatives. Structures of new heterocyclic compounds where investigated by elemental analysis and spectroscopic methods. Biological activities like antifungal and antiviral activates of some of the compounds have been investigated. Mechanistic interpretations of the observed reaction have also been performed.
