In this paper we explore the performance of a generic methodology
for the detection of social events in large photo collections.
The proposed approach represents a generic event
retrieval system applicable to arbitrary queries and event
types. It exploits available textual and visual information
for the iterative clustering of relevant spatio-temporal clusters
corresponding to event type, location, and time.
