English abstract:
This paper discusses the potentials of computer systems with TUIs to narrow the digital divide for older adults. First it provides an overview of the traditional graphical user interface and the interaction difficulties which can arise for the elderly. Afterwards a definition of age and possible impacts of ageing on the access of information and communication technologies is given. In this context, the key factor for usage of technology is identified on the basis of two theoretical acceptance models. Then the paper describes the principles of TUIs, before showing by means of two examples the potentials of TUIs to improve the technology acceptance of older adults.
