Kurzfassung englisch:
Chiral ionic liquids have been recognized for years as an alternative strategy to carry out chiral transformations. However, although the features of chiral ionic liquids provide a new and attractive approach to asymmetric synthesis, they often fail when used as sole source of chirality and need to be carefully designed for a specific reaction to induce selectivity.
C2-symmetric chiral bisoxazolines (BOX) are privileged ligands in asymmetric synthesis and promote a great number of transformations with unprecedented selectivity. Keeping this in mind, we combined the positive effects of BOX/Azabox ligands in asymmetric synthesis with profitable properties of ionic liquids to allow catalyst recycling, improved thermally stability and adaptable solubility of ionic liquid-immobilized chiral ligands.
In here, we present the synthesis of novel chiral ionic liquids with an Azabox structure starting from commercially available (S)-Valine and discuss their application as catalysts in asymmetric synthesis.
