Kurzfassung englisch:
A novel method for inline attenuated total reflection (ATR) FTIR measurements of particles in suspension will be presented. By combining ultrasonic particle manipulation and a fiber optic ATR FTIR probe, spectra of the particles and the medium only, respectively become accessible. Here, the prototype inline ultrasound enhanced ATR FTIR fiber optic probe is successfully applied in a S.cerevisiae (baker´s yeast) fermentation undergoing different substrate limitations which lead to a change in carbohydrate content of the cells. This change was visible in spectra acquired inline which correspond well with reference spectra of the cells acquired offline.
