"A low budget high precision driver for pulsed Quantum Cascade Lasers";
Poster: First International WORKshop on Infrared Technologies, Olching; 12.11.2012 - 13.11.2012.

Kurzfassung englisch:
Even the basics of driving pulsed Quantum Cascade lasers (QCLs) are tricky because a QCL has both inductive as well as capacitive (reactive) properties. Furthermore, due to the often underestimated self - inductance of cables and connectors additional problems arise when the QCL is separated from the actual driver by more than one centimeter. To achieve maximum power output stability not only the crystal temperature has to be stabilized to better than 1mK but also the driving voltage must exhibit better quality than standard voltage regulators and switches can deliver.
This poster shows a list of common problems and solutions that have been realized and applied in our lab. The proposed laser driver is made of standard electronic components with a total investment of less than 100 Euros.
