ABSTRACT: The possibilities of the global WWW highway for each day better communication is out beyond doubt. One aspect
that progress very fast is the use of the channel to generate telepresence between nodes distributed in the global village. Working for
years on the concept MFIF (Multifunction Intelligent Factories) this work is proposed linking these concepts with concrete
experience that develops in inter-university network, accessing, cooperating and operating at distance in the laboratory of micro- and
nanotechnology AuM-TU-Vienna. As in many other aspects, in this environment we see the problem that technological
advancement and cultural change must be go together. Show a specific experience that implements central aspects of MFIF and the
paradigmatic changes in technology and culture that must necessarily accompany, will be axis of this paper and its conclusions.
