English abstract:
The IFAC TC on "Supplemental Ways for Improving nternational Stability - SWIIS" is one of the longest and most established committees in IFAC. According to the initial ideas formed during the IFAC World Congress in Kyoto 1981 a SWIIS Working Group was organised in 1983, the first Workshop in this highly interdisciplinary field in Austria. Later SWIIS was established formally as a Technical Committee in IFAC. SWIIS was always a bridge between (automation and control) engineers and various other disciplines to open IFAC to other related fields. It has been the location of some of the richest academic discourse in the IFAC community. In this contribution the history of this TC will be described to outline recent developments and indicate a working agenda for the future.
