"Environmental Assessment Of Industrial Machines - A New Web-Based Concept Applied To The Edm Process";
Talk: IMC30 Conference, University College Dublin; 2013-09-03 - 2013-09-04.

English abstract:
The goal of the European Commission funded FP7 project "LCA to go" is to spread the concept and use of LCA to SMEs all across Europe and to make it more accessible to them. This paper addresses the machine tools sector of the LCA to go project by focussing on the details of a case study SME that has an EDM machine tool. The results of the case study analysis will and are being used to develop a user friendly accessible on-line tool that will be free to use for SMEs. The paper presents a simplified environmental assessment methodology which follows a two step approach which presents a cumulative energy demand for 5 different life cycle phases for the machine tool which highlights the most significant phase from a life cycle point of view which the SME can then focus their efforts on.

German abstract:
Das web-basierte "LCA to go" Softwaretool ermöglicht Industriemaschinen, insbesondere Werkzeugmaschinen
