The faculty of Informatics at the Vienna University of Technology - acknowledging the importance of innovation and the specific role of a technical university in this process - defined innovation as a third pillar of its activities, besides scientific research and teaching. The reason for i2c is not only the overall importance of innovation for social and economic welfare and development where Universities play a major role, but also the emerging of several European initiatives in this context. In the following we describe the design of the center as well as first experiences from its implementation.
