"HBT photon correlations from an anisotropic quark-gluon plasma";
Vortrag: 51. Internationale Universitätswochen für Theoretische Physik: Extreme QCD in and out of Equilibrium, Schladming; 23.02.2013 - 02.03.2013.

Kurzfassung englisch:
In heavy ion collisions, the quark gluon plasma (QGP) stays out of equilibrium at early times due to its rapid expansion along the beam axis. The evolution of the plasma anisotropy is imprinted on the photons emitted over the lifetime of the QGP. An observation of these photons would provide valuable information about the time evolution of the QGP anisotropy. However, current detectors are not capable of resolving photon signals at the yoctosecond timescale.
In this talk, I show how Hanbury Brown and Twiss (HBT) intensity interferometry of direct photons emitted from the interior of the QGP could be used to measure dynamical properties of the plasma like its isotropization time [1]. Such an HBT signal could be detected in the upcoming Forward Calorimeter of the LHC ALICE experiment.
