Kurzfassung englisch:
The Austrian corrosion education at all levels of education is shortly described. Due to a lack of post-graduate education and strong demand from industry in 2012 a new 15-day-corrosion course has been established to train mainly people from industry. The course - called CorrosionExpert - consists of a 120 hour course work devided in theoretical lectures and practical exercises in small groups. The curriculum, the content and the style of teaching is presented.
23 lecturers from university and industry, all holding at least a Ph.D. in their profession, are guiding the participants through general basics such as physical metallurgy and materials testing, metals chemistry and electrochemistry, basics of corrosion such as types of corrosion, methods of corrosion testing, effects of surface conditions, followed by a block with corrosion issues on specific alloys such as steels, aluminum, copper and refractory metal alloys, followed by a module containing various important sectors of industry such as oil and gas, building and automotive and concluded with a block on corrosion prevention.
Experiences and evaluation of the first course are presented as well as the style of examination.
