Kurzfassung englisch:
Since physical radiation experiments are di cult and expensive,
the e ects of radiation on a given circuit are commonly studied by Spice sim-
ulations. Injecting a current pulse with double exponential shape has become
the method of choice for emulating a radiation particle hit, and the charge of
this pulse is considered characteristic for the deposited particle energy. The
double exponential model, however, has three degrees of freedom, namely rise
time, fall time and peak current, and there is no clear agreement in the lit-
erature on their actual choice. In this paper we investigate the impact of this
choice on the simulation results. To this end we study the charge required to

ip the state of a Muller C-element, while varying rise and fall time. It turns
out that this charge indeed depends on the chosen time values, which invali-
dates the belief that charge is the only relevant characteristic. The conclusion
is that simulation studies should use various choices for the parameters and
apply statistics to cover all scenarios encountered in the real world { choosing
a single "representative" parameter set is not su cient.
