English abstract:
Quantum Chromodynamics (QCD) has been known for decades as the theory of the strong interaction but its non-perturbative region still poses many questions. The relevant degrees of freedom in this energy region are hadrons rather than quarks and gluons. Mesons as a particular species of hadrons encode presumed non-perturbative features of QCD such as the existence quark or gluon condensates and the subsequent emergence of an entire spectrum. The spectrum is abundant, containing mesons of various quantum numbers. I review some of the outstanding issues in the light-meson sector and present a theoretical framework to describe them: the Extended Linear Sigma Model (eLSM).
