Kurzfassung englisch:
The European countries have to face profound changes in the demands on buildings e.g. flexibility, high living quality, expected lifetime and low energy consumption. Therefore, the possibility to increase the glass surface in buildings through load bearing composite el-ements of timber and glass are of high interest, since the presence of natural sunlight im-proves the health of the persons living or working in buildings. In the last fifteen years, several well-known institutions have analyzed the assembling of wood and glass via adhe-sives to TGC. The current state-of-the-art relates to previously conducted research projects by the ITI. In these, basic knowledge and a few prototypes of shear walls, beams and ribbed plates had been developed. Within the framework of the WoodWisdom-Net Re-search Program, the ITI as Coordinator together with international partners is going to in-vestigate the long-term behavior of TGC structures. This paper illustrates these develop-ments and application of TGC structures.
