Kurzfassung englisch:
During laser beam cutting, a polarised thermal radiation is emitted out of the cut kerf with a certain ratio between s- and p-polarisation which depends on the emission angle. By determining the ratio of s- and p-polarised radiation it is possible to calculate the inclination angle of the cutting front at the observed spot. Within the scope of our experiments a beam combiner and a polarising element together with fast photodiodes have been used to separate polarised emissions out of the cut kerf in CO2 laser beam cutting. Results indicate that the observed signals could be used for quality control thus increasing productivity.
