Kurzfassung englisch:
Metal alkoxides are interesting, popular single-source precursors for the synthesis of the corresponding oxide materials by the molecule-to-materia! approach via gas phase and solution-based processes. We demonstrate for the first time a previously neglected donor-stabilisation of alkoxides using various thioether moieties. A facile, high-yield synthesis of ligand species and alkoxides is presented, allowing a systematic investigation of the coordination behaviour of thioether-donors. The coordination of the metal centres was confirmed in solution and the solid state. Ligands bearing both thioether as well as amine moieties illustrate that the stronger amino-donor exclusively coordinates in asymmetrically functionalised alcoholate ligands. In addition to the characterisation of these new alkoxide species, we investigated the thermolytic conversion of these precursor molecules in solvents and via CVD. The decomposition path plays a major role determining the actual composition of the sulphur substituted oxides, M2O3-xSx. The molecular design of the molecules allows us to control the level of oxygen Substitution in the resulting material. We will illustrate in this contribution how the organic backbone influences the thermolysis behaviour and leads to different sulphur contents. In addition, differences in thermolysis reactions vial low pressure CVD and thermal decomposition in solvents will be discussed.
