"Simulation of precipitation kinetics and strengthening in high-alloyed steel";
Talk: MSE 2014, Darmstadt; 2014-09-23 - 2014-09-25.

English abstract:
Precipitation-strengthened maraging steel PH17-4 is used for applications where high strength together with high toughness and corrosion resistance is needed. Optimum combination of these critical properties is sensitive to aging temperature and time. We use the solid-state transformation software MatCalc to simulate precipitation kinetics, based on physical models and CALPHAD-assessed databases. Thermo-kinetic simulation results of the underlying binary Fe-Cu are adapted to the complex steel system and used for full-scale precipitation simulation and strengthening calculation. Predicted yield strength is in good agreement with experimental values.
