English abstract:
One focus of the journal Computational Statistics & Data Analysis is the publication of articles on algorithms and software.
In the last years it has published two special issues on statistical algorithms and software (Gatu et al., 2007; Gatu and
McCullough, 2010). Further, the R system for statistical computing and graphics can be considered the most important
statistical software package, being increasingly used as a programming environment. Rīs capabilities for contributed
extension packages make it easy to deploy new R code to the community. This special issue is devoted to statistical
algorithms and software in R. It contains twelve contributions wherein methodological aspects are combined with sound R
implementations.
