Kurzfassung englisch:
The accurate measurement of temperatures without the need of direct contact to the object of interest is a very useful tool for various fields of application. Usually, such devices are based on thermal detectors like thermopiles or pyroelectric elements, which limit accuracy because of their relatively low detectivity. Photon detectors however offer greater detectivity and can operate at higher frequencies, which means faster measurement. Here, we present first results of absolute temperature measurement with a liquid nitrogen (LN) cooled MCT (Mercury Cadmium Telluride) detector using an infrared microscope to investigate temperature on the surface of a sample material.
