Kurzfassung deutsch:
The papers in this Special Issue are revised and significantly extended versions of papers that were presented during the 20th International Workshop: Intelligent Computing in Engineering 2013 (EG ICE 2013), which was held in Vienna, Austria. The event is organized annually by the European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering, which promotes research of advanced informatics and its applications in engineering. Similar to previous EG ICE workshops, the Vienna event has attracted participants from Europe, North America, and Asia. This Special Issue includes five papers that were selected from the 41 papers presented at the EG ICE 2013 workshop based on their scientific quality and potential. These papers have passed a thorough two-stage peer review process prior to their acceptance in this Special Issue.

The papers in this Special Issue are revised and significantly extended versions of papers that were presented during the 20th International Workshop: Intelligent Computing in Engineering 2013 (EG ICE 2013), which was held in Vienna, Austria.
