Kurzfassung englisch:
We investigate the evolution of the magnetic ground state of the heavy fermion compound Ce3Pd20Si6 by using electrical resistivity, magnetoresistance and specific heat measurements under high pressures and magnetic fields. At ambient pressure, the specific heat reveals two successive phase transitions at TN = 0.3 K and TQ = 0.5 K which have been attributed to antiferromagnetic and, tentatively, to antiferro-quadrupolar order, respectively. We show here that by applying pressure, TN increases while TQ decreases. We predict that TN(P) and TQ(P) intersect around the pressure P1 = 7 kbar. In order to distinguish the nature of both transitions, we performed specific heat measurements under magnetic field close to P1. Our results show that under pressure both transitions have similar magnetic field dependence as at 0 kbar. We establish the temperature-pressure phase diagram and discuss our experimental findings in the context of the global phase diagram for heavy fermion compounds.
