""Metamorph": Die entfaltbare, mobile Überdachung aus Holz Glas und Stahl";

Topic of my thesis is a design for a deployable, mobile canopy made out of different materials, which should also serve as a weather protection as well as for illumination and advertising purposes. The starting point is the "World Conference on Timber Engineering", which will take place in 2016 in the main university of Vienna. For the event, there is a demand of having a canopy for outside areas, which should cover some parts of the arcade court. Due to the circumstances of the arcade court, and its difficult accessibility, I will develop a design, which might be used in further stages, in smaller scales for other locations and other functions. It should be able to be used as a shelter for private gardens or for outdoor coverings of stages. Due to its transparency and ability of adapting, it could exist at various places. The canopy is like the metamorphosis of the butterflies, which change its shape. So I give my design the title "Metamorph" which should stand for the ability of shape shifting.

Thema meiner Diplomarbeit ist ein Entwurf für eine entfaltbare, mobile Überdachung aus unterschiedlichen Materialien, die zugleich als Wetterschutz als auch für Belichtungs- und Werbezwecke dienen soll. Ausgangspunkt ist die "World Conference on Timber Engineering", welche 2016 in der Hauptuni Wien stattfinden soll. Für die Veranstaltung käme eventuell eine Überdachung in Frage, welche den Arkaadenhof, zum Teil überdeckt. Aufgrund der Gegebenheiten des Arkadenhofes, und seiner schwer zugänglichen Lage, entwickle ich ein Entwurf, dass im späteren Verlauf auch in kleinerer Form an anderen Orten als auch für weitere Funktionszwecke genutzt werden soll. Unter anderem soll es als Überdachung für private Gärten oder für Bühnenüberdachungen im Freien zum Einsatz kommen. Durch seine wandlungsfähige und transparente Gestalt ermöglicht die Überdachung eine Anpassungsfähigkeit und Adaptierbarkeit an diversen Stellen. Sie ist wie die Metamorphose bei Schmetterlingen, die stets ihre Form verändert. Somit nenne ich Sie "Metamorph" das für Formwandler stehen soll.
