"Dynamic behaviour of the doctor blades used in the paper industry";
Tribology International, (2016).

English abstract:

The dynamical behaviour of so-called doctor blades used in paper industry for cleaning press-rolls is studied numerically and semi-analytically in the regime of hydrodynamic lubrication but close to mixed friction. A multiscale approach combining the different length scales at play governing the dynamical lubrication/cleaning process of the blade as affected by uni-directional roughness of the roll and coupled with the rigid-body dynamics of the blade holder where a pressurised elastic hose serves as an actuator is established. Hence, a parametric study regarding the geometrical and elastic properties of the blade, the holder, and the hose carried out. Good achievements towards the ultimate goal of a theoretical prediction of the cleaning efficiency and the estimated frictional energy loss are presented.
