English abstract:
The common perception of networks in today's research is the traditional one of stateless copper wire. But networks have evolved. Broadband access network operators focus on overall capacity optimization and deploy techniques like time-slotting, compression, and on-demand capacity allocation to achieve this target. The deployment of these techniques requires session state to be stored at layers below IP, which turns today's access networks into complex middleboxes.
