Kurzfassung englisch:
Cost efficiency and the ecological footprint are becoming more important in the construction business. In conjunction with this development, low pressure grouting as a cost-effective and environmentally compatible method for soil improvement is becoming more and more important. Due to a lack of knowledge in this field of geotechnical engineering, permeation grouting is not often considered to be an alternative method for soil improvement. In particular, the lack of data and knowledge about the mechanical behavior of the grouted soil leads to an uncertainty among geotechnical designers and design engineers. As a consequence, a research project at Vienna University of Technology has been initiated. In the framework of this project, extensive laboratory testing on grouted soils and a large scale field test have been carried out to improve the understanding of the mechanical behavior of grouted granular soils. The current paper presents the results of triaxial and uniaxial compression tests on grouted soil samples, performed to better understand the factors influencing the strength of the improved soil. Based on this data, the mechanical behavior of grouted soil can be described more accurate.
