English abstract:
This paper reports on a specific aspect of an ongoing research effort called the ViDeA project (Visual Design for All). Thereby, the capabilities of an existing visual simulation and analysis tool are being extended to specifically address the requirements of people with visual impairments. This research effort aims primarily at the development of effective means toward supporting the design and implementation of visually accessible solutions in the built environment. Thereby, a central objective is to enhance the mobility of people with sight restriction, and to support planers and architects to generate appropriate and efficient design solutions. The present contribution introduces the proposed tool. The outcome of the ViDeA project is expected to enhance the quality of visual performance guidelines and augment the capabilities of simulation-based design optimization tools.
