"A dislocation trapping-based model for tempering of martensite";
Keynote Lecture: OPTIMOM 2014, Pembroke College Oxford; 2014-09-14 - 2014-09-16.

English abstract:
In this presentation, we introduce a model for the computational treatment of the thermodynamics of Fe-C martensitic steel. The approach is based on a recently developed treatment of the interaction between solute atoms with potential trapping sites, such as substitutional solute atoms, crystal defects or second-phase precipitates. In the case of martensite tempering, the major effect to simulate is the trapping of C atoms at dislocations. With our model, we can correctly reproduce the increased solubility of C in the presence of dislocations in martensite. We demonstrate the applicability of the approach in the reproduction of the thermodynamic competition between Cottrell atmosphere formation and cementite precipitation as well as the tempering kinetics of typical low-alloy steel.
